`11/8/19

Earlier this year I attended the Arts & Crafts show in Vancouver. I wrote an article and left it off my website because I submitted it to a couple of periodicals.

I have had no reply from them so I offer it, on my website, for your viewing - .

The following was written on `11/5/30

I know some of you didn’t receive my last E,`11/5/5.

I won’t repeat it here because it is too long. If you want to read it, it is on my `guest book’ page at

I just finished another wipe out day at the Abbottsford Flea Market.

That is the 4 th weekend in a row where I sold less stuff than what it cost to rent the table.

Guess I will just have to donate all my old stuff to Goodwill.

Other than that I have spent the last few weeks sorting and posting pictures. Finally, after four long days last week, on just one page, I finished the last of the recovered photos.

I have seven large pics, now in the frame shop, which will grace the walls of a print store in the Lougheed Mall in late June.

In 1942 we moved to Gleichen, I had to attend the Indian School for about 6 weeks due to no room at the "white boys" school.

I became close friends with some of the Native boys, one in particular named Johnny, his family owned a large farm just across the tracks....Johnny and I would collect Garter snakes and Bull snakes along the railway line and drop them off in town Scared the girls so much the RCMP put a stop to our "collecting" program. One of my close friends was Billy Holt, Billy lost an eye one day due to being shot at by one of the older boys with a BB gun....The Principal at the public school was Mr. Nelson...

We used to go to the drugstore on the corner and the owner let us sit on the top steps reading the comic books, what fun!

I have many great memories of Gleichen, it was a fun place to live.

By the way, another friend who lived there was Art Boser, Art and I still meet and talk about the "good old Days"

The school had one room with grades 1, 2, and 3 all together. I was in grade 3,at age 8, when we moved to the "Hat", I was kept in grade 3 for almost a full year.

With your permission I will pass the info on to Art, his dad had a butcher shop in Gleichen...

comments=Trucks are trucks and although I love Volvo's it scares the crap out me thinking about owning one. I know of some Volvo operators that have absolutley no problems with their truck. I swear these trucks were built on a tuesday or wednesday. Those problematic trucks I swear are built on a friday!!! Although you mention the the Prostar, my experience is 6 hours off the show room floor the clutch needs serious adjusting, can't get it into gear after its 6th hour of driving. After its 3rd weel it left me stranded for 3 days while I had to get a sensor replaced. The shop foreman said that he told his brother that if you buy a truck with a solo clutch I won't fix it for you. Enough said. Within that Prostar first 4 weeks it was taken back to the shop weekly with problems and 8 months later the problems haven't stopped. A friday truck I say because I know other drivers that never have had a problem with theirs. So does anyone know of any good trucks that won't leave you stranded???

Unfortunately I was never one to hold a camera while driving which saddens me because I to have seen many beautiful things on my travels but it is odd because I did however become the master of updating my log book without ever having to pull over especially when a scale house was open or a blitz was being performed. I hauled for many companies { mostly dry vans and reefers } with the last being Bison transport out of Edm. I was diagnosed with epilepsy 4 1\2 years ago so I was unable to drive but after selling my truck I did find a position in our office and I dispatched for 3 years. It was a good experience but very stressful. I sold everything I had, packed my bags and moved home. I am now living on the opposite side of the country as you on the tropical island of newfoundland. It was nice traveling East this time as I had no deadline to get there , nobody to answer to and I was able to travel at my leisure for once. Maybe one day you'll be back down East again and will have a digital camera so that you can take as many photo's as your SD card will allow. Like BC , it's very picturesque down this way. I think the most prettiest parts of this country are on opposite ends. Cheers

I drive a Volvo like yours it just shuts off and will not start it only cranks normally, but does not start been in our shop two weeks, and the company techs cannot figure it out wire harnesses have been changed the valve cover is off steering wheel wires are exposed it needs to be towed from bay to bay for the techs to try to fix it it’s almost a joke in our company. all of the things you spoke about in your blog have happened to my unit. my truck has the egr system on it with a shitty small radiator that would pump out clouds of white smoke after starting this truck is a joke. unfortunately the joke is on me. if you can help me out or just comment on it e mail at above. thanks Allen

I don't know why any of us bothers! However, you can add a stats counter, that will tell you how many visitors/from whence they come, touching down on your blog in their flights across the interweb

some even tell you why they come: who knew that city hall council chambers, sturgeon, grouse, were such frequently googled terms? i know now!

Many times I am viewing a photo from the past and realize that most people of the time had the thought “why photograph or document this, it is so common place”. Then 50 years later the photo graph gives a rare insight to the times of that day, rare because most others were thinking “why photograph or document this, it is so common place”.

Keep doing what you do because your inner self says this is what I should be doing, nothing more, nothing less. Got to trust those instincts and we have to be who we are no matter who is reading or looking.

Thanks for all you do, it is appreciated. If you really want to know what is happening with your website you have to read the statistics, they will tell you how many visitors, what pages they viewed and how long they stayed. But the majority of the viewers may not show up for many years, but they will show up.
