Dear Parents,
Welcome back to school after the holidays. I hope that you all had a lovely summer. I would also like to extend a very warm welcome to the parents of our new children, it is good to have you at Pear Tree Mead Academy.
I am writing to you to introduce myself. My name is Wendy Beckett, and I am the newly elected Chair of Governors – I was elected at the first Governors meeting of the new academic year.
This year, so far our Governing body is made up of two parent governors (of which I am one), four community governors and two staff governors, one of which is the Head Teacher. We are happy to welcome a new community governor this year, Linda Blackburn, and are sorry to say goodbye to Peter Jones, Pauline Robinson, and Lacey Roberts. Our current governing body is:

We are currently looking to recruit a new parent governor to help us make the school a great environment for the children to learn in. If you are interested, or want to know more, please contact the school and we can give you some more information.
This year promises to be an exciting and busy year for the school - the new building is nearing completion, and it will not be long before we can start moving into it; Work is well underway with our new roof and we will soon be expanding our Nursery which will see the Pre-School move into new premises too ! On top of all this, the governors and school are preparing for any upcoming Ofsted inspection; our children will be continuing to strive to be TERRIFIC citizens.
This year, the governors will be looking at the progress of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 (years 1 & 2), Lower Key Stage 2 (years 3 & 4) and Upper Key Stage 2 (years 5 & 6) as part of our monitoring activity. As part of this monitoring, you and the children will see the governors around the school, at parents’ evenings, or at school events. Please come and say hello.
Finally, I ask that you read any policies sent home with your child, and that are available on the school website. They are in place to make sure school life runs safely and smoothly and it is important that you are aware of them. I look forward to working with Mrs Peden, and to having a happy and successful school year. I hope to meet some of you during that time.
