Exercises are based on cases from the Adamski text. Some have been modified by the instructor.

Rossi Recycling Group

1.Open the Recycling 10 database and save it to your working disk.

2.Create macros to do the following. Each item listed below is a separate macro and should be saved with an appropriate name.

a.Open qryNetDonationsCrosstab maximized in Datasheet view.

b.Open frmDonationInfo maximized in Form view. Add a message box that appears when the form is opened describing the purpose of this form. This message box is an information message.

c.Open frmDonorDonations maximized in Form view. Add a Critical message box that displays your name.

d.Open frmDonorInfo inDesign view.

e.Open rptAgenciesandDonations in Print Preview.

f.Open rptDonorList in Print Preview. Add a Warning! message box that states “Only authorized users should view this information.“

3.Add a database Switchboard to run each macro you created in Instruction #2.

a.Make sure your Switchboard labels are appropriate and follow good user interface.

b.Test each item on the Switchboard to make sure it accomplishes the desired result.

c.Make adjustments to your macros and/or Switchboard as necessary.

4.Format the Switchboard form in Design view.

a.Change the color of each rectangle object to light blue.

b.Add a label to the form header that reads: Click a button to execute the desired action.

c.Make the label 12 point, Arial, in medium blue.

d.Experiment with the look of the buttons. Click the black button in Design View and experiment by changing the button size using the sizing handles. Change the button color with the Background Color from the Format tab. Change the look of the button by applying Shape Effects in the Control Formatting group of the Format tab.

5.Close the Recycling database.

Parkhurst Health & Fitness Center

1.Open the Fitness 10 database and save it to your working disk.

2.Design macros to open all objects that are appropriate for user access (see your handout and lecture notes for guidance on this topic). Note: The MonthlyFeeStatus query is used as a base for the Monthly Fee Crosstab. Each macro should be saved separately under an appropriate name.

a.Maximize all screens as necessary.

b.Open reports in Print Preview.

3.Add your macros to a database Switchboard.

a.Make sure you use proper user interface.

b.Test each item on the Switchboard to make sure it accomplishes the desired result.

c.Make adjustments to your macros and/or Switchboard as necessary.

4Edit the database Switchboard so that the title is your name.

5.Set the database so that the Switchboard is automatically displayed when the database is opened.

6.Close the Fitness database and submit your completed tutorial and exercise files through the NS Online Assignments tool to Lesson 10.
