The cook off will take place on the cement parking lot located at:

Mesquite’s Resistol Rodeo Arena, Neal Gay Dr, I-635 @ Military Pkwy, Mesquite, TX

RVs and camper trailers are welcome.

Complimentary 2 day entry to the festival and parking:

Each team will receive up to 4 “2-Day passes” to the festival and “1 Parking Pass” to use in Preferred parking area if needed.

Water:

No water hook ups. You will need to bring water for cooking, cleaning and consumption. No grey or black water dumping available

Electricity:

Electricity will be provided at $25 for 30 AMPs or less and $50 for 30 AMPs or more. Electricity will only be guaranteed to those who register before April 15. If you need electricity, please provide the appropriate hook up you will need. You are responsible for providing correct information. If you wait to register after April 15, you may still be able to have electricity provided (the fee will still apply) but hook ups may be limited. When you arrive at check-in, you will sign an agreement that states you will not tamper with the hook ups provided and only use the allotted AMPs you registered for. Entrants obtaining electricity without permission, or tampering with hook ups or utilizing more hook ups than permitted will be disqualified from the contest and asked to leave the premises.

Cook-off Rules:

Lone Star Barbecue Rules will apply to all participants.

Load In / Load Out Times:

1.  Cooks will be able to register and load in to the contest area anytime from 8 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 to midnight, Saturday, April 24, 2010. However, it should be noted there is a festival going on from 5-11 p.m. directly across the street from the contest area. Any cooks arriving after 11 p.m. may experience significant delays in getting into the contest area.

2.  Load out may take place immediately following the awards ceremony on Saturday; however, remember there is a festival going on and we welcome any or all our cooks to stay around and attend the remainder of the festival as your barbecue contest credentials will be good for festival admission.

Contest Area:

1.  It is the responsibility of all cooks to make sure the vicinity of their contest area is kept clean and that the area is cleaned and policed prior to load out. It is the desire of the Real. Texas. Festival. to declare the event litter-free and we implore all barbecue cook off participants to assist us.

2.  Excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages may result in disqualification from the contest and removal from the contest area. Under no circumstances are alcoholic beverages to be sold or distributed to members of the general public by contest participants. Alcoholic beverages will be for sale inside the festival venue and no alcoholic beverages may be taken out of or into the festival venue.

3.  No additional vehicles are permitted inside the contest area once load in/out is complete. An RV and/or camper are allowed, just not any additional vehicles. If you feel you will need to leave the contest area for any reason you will need to park your vehicle in General Parking. Also, no skateboards, scooters, in-line skates, bicycles, personal transport vehicles or golf carts are allowed.

4.  No animals will be allowed inside the judging area or inside the festival venue, except for service animals.

Venue:

1.  Festival staff has the right to stop or remove any barbecue participant, or his or her representative, for performing any act or practice deemed to be offensive, obscene or objectionable from the festival or from the barbecue competition.

2.  No outside coolers or food may be brought into the festival grounds – except for snacks or drinks for toddlers.

3.  Displaying or carrying of firearms is strictly prohibited except for uniformed officers of the Mesquite Police Department.

Indemnification:

1.  “Taste of Mesquite” BBQ Cook-off participants agree, upon signing their entry form, to abide by all festival rules and Lone Star Barbecue Society rules. Contestants assume full responsibility for their safety and the safety of their associates and designees; and will indemnify the City of Mesquite. Contestants agree to hold the City of Mesquite, The Mesquite Service League, the Lone Star Barbecue Society, any of their volunteers or the overall event sponsors harmless for any personal liability claims, loss or damage of goods that may arise from participation in the
