The American College, located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania (just outside Philadelphia) is accepting applications for a Professional Education Counselor to provide marketing (student enrollments) and student support services for the Professional Education Division, ensuring a smooth, effective conversion of enrollment prospects to active PED students and facilitating student progress toward program completion.

This is an entry-level role in a multilevel marketing and customer service job in the Professional Education Division. It has multiple incumbents at almost all times, each incumbent reporting to a Lead, but also taking daily work direction from more experienced Counselors in the department. It has no supervisory responsibilities.

Primary Duties

MARKETING SUPPORT: STUDENT ENROLLMENTS

  • Work from scripts to make outbound calls to prospects identified by department management about available programs and courses.
  • Coordinate with more experienced Counselors to register prospects for selected programs and courses.

STUDENT SUPPORT

  • Under supervision of more experienced Counselors, respond to student inquiries about programs and courses, enrollment, billing and technology issues.
  • Research questions and issues as necessary, review results with more experienced Counselors, and respond to students promptly, usually within 24 hours.
  • Record results of inquiries into department and student files using PeopleSoft.

CONTINUOUS LEARNING/SELF EDUCATION

  • Continuous learning about the College’s professional education programs and the course requirements related to each.
  • Continuous learning about the College’s policies and procedures on enrollments, graduation requirements, billing, technology and faculty access, etc.
  • Participate in scheduling orientation and training sessions.

TEAMWORK: GENERAL SUPPORT TO COLLEGE OPERATIONS

  • Provide administrative and operational support/assistance to other work groups, as requested.
  • Participate in College programs, projects, etc., as requested.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • General and business knowledge equivalent to a High School diploma (some college level coursework up to and including a Bachelor’s degree preferred) with 6 – 12 months of prior sales or customer service experience involving complex products or services (intangibles).
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and verbal presentation skills to deliver a quality messages to prospects and to work effectively with current students.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills; Detail oriented.
  • Technology oriented: readily able to learn and adapt to PeopleSoft systems.
  • Manual dexterity for phone and information systems operations; keyboarding skills.
  • Able to sit for extended periods.
