Dunning Scholarships

The W. Gordon Dunning Scholarship Fund is to be available to graduating high school seniors in pursuit of a career in medicine.

The Natalie E. Dunning Scholarship Fund is to be available to graduating high school seniors in pursuit of a career in education.

Qualifications:

  • Be in the top 25% of your graduating class.
  • Be a resident of Bucks or MontgomeryCounty
  • Be in pursuit of a career in either medicine or education
  • Must be attending college as a full time student.
  • For students who require financial assistance to attend college.

No one scholarship shall exceed the tuition and room and board of the college the recipient is attending.

Deadline is May 23, 2012.

ABBOTT AND FENNER BUSINESS CONSULTANTS SCHOLARSHIP

High school Juniors and Seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution may apply. The award is for $1,000.

Criteria:

Must write an essay “What was the most difficult time in your life, and why? How did your perspective on life change as a result of this difficulty?” Essay should be between 500 and 1000 words.

AES Engineers

The consulting firm of AES Engineers is committed to continuing its support of higher education by providing scholarships to deserving students. The award for this scholarship is $500.00. The award will be based on character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted.

Deadline for entry is October 5, 2012.

The Carol M. Murphy Scholarship Fund

Two former students who have been taught by Mrs. Murphy in fifth grade will be chosen to receive a $1,000 scholarship. The students must show seriousness as indicated by an academic record that is sound and involvement in school activities or other community activities that show commitment.

Students must attend a university, college, technical/vocation school after graduating from Upper Merion in June, 2012.

Deadline to Mrs. Coxe is May 4, 2012.

SiloamBaptistChurch Community Scholarship

The Siloam Baptist Church Community Scholarship Award is available to graduating high school seniors who attend: Norristown, Colonial, Methacton, or UpperMerionSchool District and Vocational Schools are included.

Winner must plan to attend the Educational Banquet on Saturday, June 9, 2012.

Eligibility:

Regularly participate in religious activities such as, i.e. Worship Service, Sunday School, Bible Study and Youth Ministries

Demonstrate good character in his/her school and community

Ensure that all provided information is accurate and complete

Deadline to Church office is May 9, 2012.

Upper Merion Police Association Scholarship

The Upper Merion Police Association is offering a $500 (minimum) scholarship to a male and a female UpperMerionAreaSchool District graduating senior. The scholarships are made directly to the winners for tuition and other college related expenses.

Criteria:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Involvement in school based community service groups/Upper Merion Township community service programs/volunteer organizations or clubs.
  • Must write an essay of at least 250 words outlining your involvement in community service organizations, and why community service is important.

Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship
The local Beta Pi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma awards a scholarship to a female graduating senior who has been accepted to a 2 or 4 year college or university as an education major.
Criteria:

  • Must submit a list of activities.
  • Must submit a personal essay (approximately 500 words) stating why you are interested in pursuing a career in education.
  • Official transcript

U.M.A.E.A. Scholarship

The Upper Merion Area Education Association awards a scholarship to a graduating senior who is planning to pursue a career in education.

Criteria:

  • Must submit a list of activities.
  • Must submit a personal essay (250-500) stating why you are interested in pursuing a career in education.
  • Official transcript

Deadline to counselor is no later than Friday,May 25, 2012.

U.M.A.E.A. Scholarship Award in the Arts

The Upper Merion Area Education Association is offering a scholarship of $150.00 to a graduating senior who is planning to pursue a career in the Arts-Music, Theater, Visual Arts and /or Arts Education.

Criteria:

Submit a list of extracurricular activities

Submit a personal essay (between 250-500 words) stating why you are interested in pursuing a career in the Arts.

UMASD FACULTY SCHOLARSHIP

The UpperMerionAreaSchool District’s FACULTY SCHOLARSHIP is a $500 award to a graduating senior who is pursing a career in education.

Criteria:

  • Must be a graduating senior of UpperMerionAreaHigh School
  • Must show seriousness of purpose as indicated by an academic record that is sound and involvement in school or other community activities that shows commitment.
  • Must submit an essay of no more than 500 words about a teacher who has impacted your life
