Message from the Chair:
Summertime greetings to our Northern Nevada ASQ members. Hard to believe that June is here, and we are ready to re-install our leadership group for our section. We are still looking for a Treasurer, as Linda Jacques has met the 2-term limit, and can no longer hold that role. Thank you Linda for doing a Fantastic Job! If anyone is interested, please give me a call at 775-215-1817.

We have an excellent speaker lined up for June 4th, Michael Turek (GE Energy). Mike will be presenting on the area of Corrective and Preventive Action, Root Cause Analysis, and driving change. This covers a few of the topics our members requested through our membership survey. I have worked with Mike for years, and he is an entertaining and engaging speaker. Hope you can join us for an exciting presentation.

Date: Thursday, June 4th, 2009
Time: Officer meeting 5:30, Networking & Dinner 6:00, Presentation 6:30 pm

RSVP: Please respond no later than Tuesday, June 2nd to Lorri Williams, 775-215-1817 or via return email at

Meeting Topic:
Why do quality issues come back to visit us again and again? Because much of the time we do not have the root cause(s) or process(es) actually corrected. To really drive quality you need to master and combine 4 key approaches:

o  Corrective and Preventive Actions - to get at the vast majority simple corrections

o  RCA to drive to the interrelated product or services issues to drove the failure

o  Six Sigma to put in permanent corrective actions that maintain control

o  Change Management - the people kind
