In addition to the on-going work of the Hellenic Dance Festival Committee, we are pleased to offer another opportunity for YOU to share your expertise, experience, and love as a member of our redesigned Festival Implementation Team. This hardworking group is responsible for the execution of our Annual Hellenic Dance Festival in January. Committee volunteersshould be active sacramental members of their respective parishes.

Individuals who believe they are a good FIT for one of the positions are welcome to apply to join our team. The Executive Committeewill review all applications and notify candidates of their acceptance. Please note, those individuals who receive direct financial compensation as a result of the HDF weekend are not eligible to serve on the FITeam.

The HDF Executive Committee is appointed byMetropolitan Alexios and consists of the following positions: HDF Chair; HDF Vice-Chair; HDF Spiritual Advisor; Metropolis Youth Coordinator

Position Term

Competition Chair2years

This individual is responsible for the overall competition schedule during the weekend. They collect the following forms: Intent to Participate, Dance Rosters and Dance Performance Forms. The two-day competition schedule is the main focus of this position, but they also host the Directors Meeting and lead the volunteers who assist in the competition rooms including timers, announcers, and stagehands. This individual should be organized, able to quickly adjust to last minute challenges, and have the ability to interact with all types of people and personalities. Applicants may not be current Dance Directors or planning to compete in HDF during their service.

  • Minimum Age of 25, with an event planning or logistics background.

Weekend Manager1 year

This outgoing, energetic, personable individual will work closely with the FIT Co-Chair & Competition Chair to ensure the overall festival is the best it can be. They will coordinate the scheduling of various workshops, the liturgical services, our volunteers, marketplace vendors, transportation needs, and other any last minute opportunities that arise. This position is a great stepping stone for someone interested in becoming the FIT Co-Chair.

Judge Coordinator1 year

A person with a flair for hospitality, willingness to serve, and an understanding of our dance competition is an ideal candidate for this position. They make recommendations for potential judges, coordinate their travel schedules, serve as the point of contact for the judges, and assist with any needs our judges may have throughout the weekend. They may also be asked to assist with the tabulation of scores. Applicants may not be current Dance Directors or planning to compete in HDF during their service.

Workshop Coordinator1 year

A person with a love for education of all types – spiritual, inspirational and cultural – should apply for this unique opportunity. The individual will work closely with the HDF Spiritual Advisor, Metropolis Youth Coordinator, and FIT Co-Chairs, to develop, plan, schedule, and execute educational opportunities throughout the weekend. A creative person, who loves to think “outside the box”,while grounded in the Hellenic Faith and culture, will be a perfect match as we strive to offer additional learning opportunities for our participants during HDF and potentially throughout the year.

Competition Room Liaison1 year(2 positions available)

Experience working in a fast paced environment, flexibility, and a positive approach are essential skills for those applying for these weekend-based positions. These individuals serve as the main contact for all timers, MCs, musicians, directors, and dancers who are competing on the stage in their room. They report directly to our Competition Chair and should have a basic knowledge of a festival type environment. Applicants should not plan to compete at HDF during their service.
