ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT

Adelaide Fringe is an annual open-access arts festival run over four weeks in Adelaide, South Australia during February and March. It is one of the largest, most popular and diverse arts festivals in Australia. Thousands of artists from around Australia and across the globe participate alongside home-grown talent, in art forms spanning cabaret, comedy, circus & physical theatre, dance, film, theatre, music, visual art and design.

1. POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Head of Finance and Culture, the Assistant Accountant is responsible for the effective financial accounting, reconciliation and timely disbursement of artist box office settlements. The role is an assistant to all financial statement preparations and management accounts.

Internal Liaisons:Head of Finance and Culture, Director & Chief Executive, Deputy Director, Heads of Departments, and other Adelaide Fringe staff as required.

External Liaisons:Adelaide Fringe creditors and debtors, artists

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1Balance Securepay Payments to Bank Statement

3.2Download Securepay Reports for Artist Registration Payments

3.3Prepare and maintain accurate records of artist financial information in Xero.

3.4Undertake effective financial accounting and reconciliation of artist box office income from the sale of tickets to their events through FringeTIX.

3.5Prepare artist settlement statements for the Head of Finance & Culture to make payments to artists, ideally within three days of the final performance.

3.6E-mail settlement information to presenters and artists and liaise with them as necessary to facilitate settlements.

3.7Undertake timely and accurate bank reconciliations for the Adelaide Fringe FringeTIX account.

3.8Payment and reconciliation of superannuation payments for artists as well as efficient record keeping of these payments.

3.9Prepare Corporate Hospitality invoices and consult with Marketing Coordinator – Hospitality to recover costs for tickets & hospitality

4.SELECTION CRITERIA

4.1Demonstrated experience in operational accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bookkeeping, credit control, financial accounting, GST and payroll processing.

4.2Advanced reconciliation skills, including bank reconciliation.

4.3Proven experience in the prompt reconciliation and settlement of client transactions.

4.4Demonstrated experience in the preparation and interpretation of accounting reports and completion of detailed reconciliations.

4.5Sound understanding of and demonstrated experience in computerised accounting software packages with a sound working knowledge of Excel and Xero.

4.6Demonstrated ability to manage time, complex tasks, challenging projects and competing deadlines concurrently.

4.7Excellent oral and written communication skills.

4.8Excellent interpersonal skills; capacity to interact with staff at all levels and to work effectively as part of a team.

4.9Previous working knowledge and experience working in an arts organisation with particular emphasis on box office and/or call centre sales
