ANWAR KNIGHT

Described as the guy “most likely to liven up a party,” Anwar Knight has a wit so quick, and is so full of energy that, not only is his personality hard to ignore, he’s pretty hard to resist. With those gifts, opportunity has led Anwar’s career in many directions, but always revolving around the same thing – entertaining.

In the earlier years, Anwar’s place was at centre stage performing weekly at Yuk Yuk’s – even sharing a stint with the Comedy Store, in Los Angeles, of course featuring only original – all– Anwar material. Bringing that hearty deep from the belly laughter with him, he made the easy transition to radio.

A graduate of the journalism program at Humber College, he has hosted shows at some of the most successful radio stations in the country, including Ez Rock, Z 103 and Energy 108. Even today on occasion Anwar’s voice can be heard on the Toronto radio airwaves. Anwar has interviewed countless celebrities, like Avril Lavigne, Mary J Blige, Spike Lee, the Backstreet Boys and more.

Not having to look too carefully, Anwar of course can also be seen on television. Over the years Anwar's creative talents have been showcased at many prominent broadcast outlets. These include; The New VR, Talk TV, Rogers, The Weather Network and Global Television in Toronto. . His warm and energetic weather forecast became a favourite with Global viewers as co-host of the morning show. However as a general assignment reporter he also covered some compelling stories including “SARS-stock”, “The Blackout” and he was also one of the first reporters on the scene to capture survivor accounts from the passengers of Air France, flight 358 that crashed at Pearson Airport.

Some of Anwar’s other accolades include co-hosting the Canada Walk of Fame inductee network show as well as producing and hosting a regular speciality feature called "The Pop Culture Zone".

Today Anwar is an integral part of the number one broadcasting team in the country, at CTV News in Toronto. As a weather anchor he incorporates his extensive knowledge along side his sense of humour and genuine charm -a proven winning combination for CTV Viewers. His talents are featured on both the local and national newscasts, including fill in co-host on CTV's trademark morning show, "Canada AM".

In addition to his duties on Canada’s most watched local newscast, he is also the network host for Oasis HD, the world’s first HD nature channel. Anwar has travelled extensively with Oasis, including exploring some of the world’s most endangered eco-systems such as the Everglades in Florida and the Rainforests in Costa Rica.

Anwar’s acting credits include guest appearances in numerous commercials and TV shows including the award winning drama series “Queer as Folk” and “Train 48”.
