TWO ARRESTED FOR CHAIN SNATCHING, INVOLVED IN MORE THAN 50 INCIDENTS

With the arrest of two persons namely Aslam Khan@ Babbu aged 30 yrs s/o Sabir Khan r/o C/37 Gali No 4 Brij Puri Gokul Puri Delhi (originally belonged village Sahswaan Badayun UP and Vijay Gupta (Receiver of stolen property) s/o Ramesh Chand r/o D 67 Gali No.5 Brij Puri Delh, the staff of Special Staff of North East District Delhi has been able to recovered a country made pistol and a live cartridge, stolen Bajaj Discover motor cycle and two gold chains. Aslam Khan @ Babbu has never been arrested earlier and involved in about 50 incidents of chain snatchings in North East, East and Central Delhi.

HC Vinay Kumar, Ct Sanjay Singh and Ct Neeraj Kumar had information that Aslam Khan @ Babbu and his associate Mushraff are involved in gold chain snatching and are active in the area of North East, East and Central District, Delhi. A team comprising SI Parmod Anand, SI Jai Bhagwan, ASI Vijender Singh, HC Azad Singh, Upender Singh, Vinay Kumar, Constables Neeraj Kumar, Sanjay Kumar led by Inspector Sukhwinder Singh was formed under the supervision of Sh S.S. Hassan ACP/Operations North East District.

On 07.03.2010 an information was received that Aslam @ Babbu would be coming to Bhagirathi Water Treatment plant on a Bajaj Discover motor cycle. On this information, the police party swung into action and apprehended Aslam @ Babbu while he was riding on Bajaj Discover Motor Cycle. A country made pistol of .315 bore along with a live cartridge was recovered from his possession. A motor cycle make Bajaj Disciver was also recovered from his possession. A case FIR No 71/10 u/s 25 Arms Act has been registered against Aslam @ Babbu at Police Station Gokul Puri Delhi and taken up for the investigations.

Aslam @ Babbu along with his associate Musharaff are involved in about 50 incidents of gold chain snatchings in North East, East and Central Delhi. Musharraff is his cousin brother and absconding. After snatching the gold chain from the lady victim, they

sold the same to Vijay Gupta a jeweller in Gokul Puri Delhi and Umesh (jeweller) of Sahswaan Badayun UP. Aslam @ Babbu further disclosed and pointed out the shop of Vijay Gupta in the area of Gokul Puri, Delhi. Vijay Gupta was also interrogated at length and confessed to have received the gold chains from Aslam @ Babbu. Two gold chains which were recently snatched by Aslam and Musharaff have been recovered from the possession of Vijay Gupta. He melted the remaining gold chains.

MODUS OPERENDIE: They select their target in the secluded place and one of them remain seated on the motor cycle and another snatch the gold chain and then they fled on the motor cycle.

RECOVERY: (1) One country made pistol .315 bore with a live cartridge.

(2) One Motor cycle make Baja Discover.

(3) Two gold chains.

INVOLVEMENT:

Four following cases have been linked so far:

  2. Case FIR No 71/10 u/s 379/356 IPC PS Seelma Pur delhi.
  3. Case FIR No 50/09 u/s 379/356 IPC PS Jyoti Nagar Delhi.
  4. Case FIR No 13/09 u/s 379/356 IPC PS Jyoti Nagar Delhi.

Efforts are being made to apprehend the absconding co-accused Musharaff and Umesh (jeweller) of Sahswaan Badayun (UP). Both the accused persons have been produced in the court and the other incidents of Gold Chain Snatching are being linked.

THE GANG USED TO THROW CHILLY POWDER ON PUBLIC WHEN CHASED.

The Anti Extortion Cell of Crime Branch has busted an interstate gang of notorious Snatchers and arrested three members of the gang including the gang leader Kishan @ Sonu from Rohini area. The gang is involved in more than 40 cases of chain snatchings in North-West, Outer and West Districts of Delhi and Ahmedabad, Gujrat. Two High Speed Motorcycles used in crime and snatched gold chain have been recovered from the possession of the accused persons. Recently, this gang has visited Ahmedabad by Air twice to commit chain snatchings with their local associates. At the time of arrest, the accused persons were possessing chilly powder which they used to throw on public if they were chased after committing crime. The identities of the arrested accused persons are as under:

  1. Kishan @ Sonu (23 years) s/o Shammi r/o F-1/215, Sunder Nagari, Near Gagan Cinema, Nand Nagri, Delhi.
  2. Mukesh (24 years) s/o Rajender Singh r/o 1132, Bhopura, Distt. Ghaziabad, UP.
  3. Amit Kumar (24 years) s/o Balbir Singh r/o Shri Ram Colony, Near Loni, Ghaziabad, UP.

THE OPERATION AND TEAM

HC Yashpal Singh of Anti Extortion Cell received secret information that a gang of notorious chain snatcher headed by Kishan @ Sonu would come to Sector-24, Rohini to commit snatchings in the area. On this a team under the close supervision of Shri Jasvir Malik, led by Inspr. Suresh Kumar and comprising of ASIs Rajbir Singh, Wasi Haider, HCs Yashpal, Sanjay, Satpal and Consts. Rajesh, Subhash, Sandeep, Rajeev Sahrawat & Jasbir was constituted to apprehend the accused persons. The team laid a trap at Sector-24-25 Chowk in Rohini at about 04:00 pm. After a chase, the team successfully apprehended the three members of the gang at 04:50 pm. One Discover motorcycle No. DL4S BD 1584, one snatched golden chain and one packet of chilly powder was recovered from their possession. Later, one Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle No. DL6S P 8382 was also recovered at their instance from Prahladpur, Delhi. These motorcycles have been found to be stolen from Paschim Vihar and Saraswati Vihar, Delhi.

On interrogation, the accused persons confessed their involvement in more than 40 incidents of snatchings in the area of North-West, Outer and West Districts of Delhi and in Ahmedabad, Gujrat.

The gang leader Kishan @ Sonu is previously involved in more than 16 criminal cases of Chain Snatchings and NDPS Act of Delhi. After release from jail in the year 2008, he alongwith his former associates Joginder @ Sagar lured Amit Kumar and Mukesh and to join them and earn easy money by committing snatchings. They formed a gang and arranged two high speed motorcycles for committing crime.

All the gang members are experts in riding motorcycle. To evade apprehension by the public after commission of crime, the pillion rider of the m/cycle used to throw chilly powder at the chasing persons. At the time of apprehension, a packet of chilly powder was also recovered from the possession of the accused Kishan @ Sonu.

The accused Amit Kumar used to dispose of the snatched gold articles with the help of a goldsmith who lives in Ram Nagar, Shahdara, Delhi.

In August & December 2009, this gang including Kishan @ Sonu, Joginder @ Sagar and one Kalu visited Ahmedabad by Air twice and committed a series of chain snatchings with the help of their local accomplices. In this way, the accused persons earned more than Rs. 2 lakhs from their criminal activities in Ahmedabad which they spent lavishly. Ahmedabad Police is being informed regarding the arrest of the accused persons.

Efforts are being made to arrest the remaining gang members.

DESPERATE GANG OF ROBBERS BUSTED WITHIN 24 HOURS

Staff of Police Station Nangloi, West Distt has solved a robbery case within 24 hours of the incident by arresting three dreaded robbers. All the three robbers have previous criminal record.

INFORMATION & OPERATION

On 07.03.2010 at 0530 hours a call was received from Police Control Room that a robbery has taken place in Blue line bus opposite Surajmal Stadium, Nangloi. On receipt of call, IO reached the spot. Sh. Ritesh S/o Pawan Jindal, R/o Bhootowali Gali has intimated that he was coming from Chandigarh after collecting the payment around Rs. 4 lacs. He took a Blueline bus of route No.926 from Peera Garhi bus stand. There was heavy rush in the bus so he stood near the front gate of the bus. When the bus reached Surajmal Stadium suddenly, one person poked knife on his back and other person pushed him down. Then two more boys appeared and pulled his hands and forced him to alight from the bus. They threatened him and forcibly cut the belt wrapped around his waist inside the shirt containing Rs. 4 lacs. After robbing him, they fled away. On his statement, a case FIR No.79/10, u/s 392/34-IPC was registered at PS Nangloi.

On this information, a team was constituted under the supervision of Sh. Sandeep Byala, ACP/Nangloi consisting of Inspector Rajbir Mali, SHO/Nangloi, Inspector Vijay Pal, Inspector Investigation, SI Dinesh, ASI Shiv Narain, HC Hattu Ram, HC Vinod, Ct. Pradeep and Ct. Stayadev. Intelligence was collected. Secret information was received that the criminals involved in the crime will assemble in Camp no.3 in the evening hours to plan such more loots. A trap was laid and teams were deputed in plain clothes. As soon as they appeared, team already waiting for them caught them on pointing of secret informer.

INTERROGATION AND MODUS OPERANDI

During sustained interrogation, accused persons disclosed about their involvement in the said incident of robbery. They disclosed that in the morning, they met at Peeragarhi Chowk and boarded bus rout no. 926 going towards Nangloi. Their modus operandi was to first identify their victim and pickpocket the cash carried by him. In case they are not able to do so in the bus, they used to force him to get down and use to rob the cash at the point of knife. In this incident, they first identified the victim by touching his waist and felt the wrapped belt around his waist. They forced him to get down near Surajmal Stadium and then robbed the wrapped belt containing cash at the point of knife. Accused persons were arrested and on their instance, robbed money i.e. Rs.3,00,000/- approximately and two mobile phones used in the plan for this robbery were recovered. Two more accused involved in the crime have been identified. Raids are being conducted to nab the remaining accused persons.

Staff involved in good work is being suitably rewarded.

ACTIVE SNATCHER & AUTO LIFTER NABBED: TWO CASES SOLVED

Due to increasing incidents of auto-lifting, a team consisting of HC Prahlad Singh, Ct. Vijender Singh and Ct. Bhagat Singh was constituted under the supervision of Inspr. Om Parkash SHO/Pahar Ganj, Central District, Delhi. On 06.03.10, a secret information was received that a young person would come on a stolen motorcycle near Satyam Hotel, Pahar Ganj. Subsequently, the police team starting vehicle checking near Satyam Hotel. At about 10:45 PM, a boy came there on a red colour Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle and at the instance of informer, the boy was stopped and on asking the documents of the motorcycle, he could not produce anything. On verification, it was learnt that the motorcycle has been stolen from the area of Rani Bagh and a case vide FIR No. 31/10 was registered in this regard. On his search, a mobile phone make Nokia-73 was also recovered which was stolen from a person near 6 Tooti Chowk in the evening of 05.03.10. He was identified as Dharmender @ Rahul @ Lala Ram aged 20 years s/o Kanhiya Lal r/o Jhuggi No. 100, Near Ambedkar Bhawan, Aram Bagh, Delhi. Consequently, case vide FIR No. 59/10 u/s 379/411 IPC was registered at PS Pahar Ganj, Delhi.

During interrogation, he disclosed that he in association with his accomplice Rishi @ Rallan had stolen the above motorcycle. He further admitted that he had stolen the above mobile phone from a person in the evening of 05.03.10 near Six Tooth, Pahar Ganj. He is an active criminal and previously involved in hurt cases of PS Mandir Magar and PS Pahar Ganj. His accomplice Rishi is involved in cases of Murder and Attempt to Murder. Both of them had started snatching in the recent past.

Further efforts are being made to arrest his accomplice Rishi and more recoveries are also expected.

TWO STUDENTS INDULGING IN SNATCHING INCIDENTS, ARRESTED : SNATCHED CELLULAR PHONE, LAP TOP AND MOTORCYCLE

USED IN COMMISSION OF CRIME RECOVERED

With the arrest of two accused, the South District Police has busted a gang of snatchers and solved several incidents of Snatching and Theft committed in various areas of Delhi. One snatched cellular phone of MBBS Student, one Laptop of a woman working in Spice Jet Airlines and one Karizma motorcycle used in commission of crime have been recovered from them.

ACCUSED ARRESTED:

  1. Kapil Chauhan age 19 years S/O Sh.Rajinder Singh Chauhan R/O D-4/70 E. Vashisht Park, Opposite Janak Cinema, New Delhi.

INCIDENT:

For the last three months, several incidents of snatching and theft have been reported in various areas of Delhi in which a group of snatchers had targeted womenfolk walking alone on roadside and snatched their cell phones, gold chains, handbags, laptops and other valuables. In most of these incidents of snatching, the criminals have used “Karizma” motorcycle, which is comparatively a more high speed bike as compared to other motorcycles.

TEAM AND ARREST

In order to bust this gang and to prevent these incidents, various police teams were formed in South District. A team of Anti Auto Theft Squad South Distt consisting of ASIs Om Parkash, Samay Singh, HCs Parmod Kumar, Laxman,Jasraj Singh, Constables Ajay Tokas, Nihal Singh, Anil Kumar, Umesh Kumar, Yogender, Amit Kumar, Kanwar Pal singh, Sanjiv Shah, Consts. (Drivers) Satpal Singh and Naresh Kumar under the supervision of SI Balihar Singh I/C AATS, South and Shri Bal Krishan, ACP, Operations, South also swung into action to bust this gang.

During the course of collection of intelligence, it revealed that the fresh young boys of good families having no past criminal records are involved in these incidents of snatching. Accordingly, sources were deployed in the areas and on specific information, both accused Dipankar and Kapil were arrested from the area of PVR Priya Complex, Vasant Vihar on 06.03.2010 at 5 p.m. while they were drying to dispose off one cellular phone and IBM Laptop. On interrogation, the laptop was found to be snatched from the area of Janak Puri, whereas the cellular phone was also found to be snatched from the area of Janak Puri in an another incident. Accordingly, both the accused were arrested U/S 41.1 Cr.P.C. vide DD No. 9 dated 6.3.10 AATS South District. One Karizma motorcycle used by these criminals in commission of crime has also been recovered.

INTERROGATION:

During sustained interrogation, both the accused disclosed that they have several girl friends and in order to bear heavy expenditure on their girl friends as well as to live a lavish lifestyle, they have been committing such criminal activities for the last about one year. Both accused are appearing in the ongoing examination of Class 12th and instead of preparation for the Board Examination, both were involved in the criminal activities in the month of February 2010.
