Dear Asbury Families,

On Friday, October 27, we will hold our annual Halloween Party and Costume Parade. Please note the following:

  • Assigned room parent volunteers will provide the class snack. PLEASE DO NOT send extra treats. This is in compliance with the MTSD Nutrition & Wellness Policy.
  • Any Room Parent who wishes to take their child/children after the party must send in a note with your child in the morning.
  • Students will have an opportunity to change into costume prior to the parade, which begins at

2:15 p.m. Students will be given time to change out of costumes before dismissal. Students are not permitted to wear their costumes to school in the morning.

  • Weather permitting, the parade will take place outside. Students will exit the building via the gym doors and parade on the sidewalk to the bus entrance. Parents are invited to view the parade from the grass and parking lot areas. Signs will be posted on the front doors just prior to the start of the parade to let you know whether the parade will take place outside. In case of inclement weather parents are invited inside to the gymfor the parade.
  • Assigned Room Parent Volunteers Only will be permitted to go to the classroom for the party. Volunteersmust have required clearance paperwork on file at MTSD.
  • Due to insurance regulations, aerosol cans are not permitted, nor are students permitted to bring real or toy weapons such as knives, guns, etc. Please do not allow your child to bring any type of weapons to school as part of their Halloween costume.

There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, October 30,for an in-service day. School will resume on Tuesday, October 31, and this will be a Day 4.

We are anticipating a large turnout for this event. Following these simple guidelines helps us to provide a safe atmosphere for our students.

Schedule:

  • 2:15 p.m.parade - outside weather permitting
  • 2:45 p.m.refreshments/activities in homeroom
  • 3:15 p.m.change into school clothes for dismissal

Guidelines for Costumes

  • We ask that parent’s guide their children to use good taste and judgment when planning a costume.
  • Anything suggesting violence or that is gory is not acceptable (fake blood, knives…). No replicas or toy weapons (guns, swords, daggers, hooks, etc.) are permitted in the school or on school property.
  • Make sure your child can walk comfortably and see where they are going.
  • Due to safety regulations, no aerosol cans, including hair dye.
  • Any face makeup necessary for the costume will be put on in school when it is time to get dressed for the parade.
  • Roller blades or ice skates are not permitted.
