What can I expect each week?

Week 1

Learning Outcome: Ability to seek appropriate help and intervention

Aims and objectives: Group Forming, develop group agreement, Introduce and explain CRUSH, Introduce the characters.

Week 2

Learning Outcome: Ability to recognise a nurturing teenage relationship and an abusive one

Aims and objectives: Build traits of characters, explore developing relationships of the characters, explore controlling and non-controlling behaviours through the scenarios.

Week3

Learning Outcome: Ability to recognise warning indicators and safely end abusive relationships

Aims and objectives: To recognise abusive and victom traits in self and others, To explore the pros and cons of personal change, to be aware of possible dangers when ending an abusive relationship, to recognise and break the abuser/victim cycle

Week 4

Learning Outcome: Ability to adopt healthy or appropriate coping mechanisms

Aims and objectives: To explore appropriate coping mechanisms, to explore the coping mechanisms of the characters and possible implications

Week 5

Learning Outcome: Ability to recognise the influence of peers, media and popular culture

Aims and objectives: Exploring and discussing popular magazines, history, religion and art, exploring links between peer pressure and abuse, roles of males and females and history, song lyrics, histories and experiences of the characters.

Week 6

Learning Outcome: Ability to recognise and challenge learned behaviours – their own and others

Aims and objectives: Exploring appropriate assertiveness and handling difficult situations

Week 7

Learning Outcome: Ability to understand rights and responsibilities of young people, agencies and communities.

Aims and objectives: To discuss human rights and responsibilities, to discuss and identify the rights and responsibilities of young people.

Week 8

Learning Outcome: Ability to understand equality and diversity

Aims and objectives: To explore cultural norms and assumptions through the characters, to discuss stereotypes and explore diversity issues.

Week 9

Learning Outcome: Awareness of the historical and cultural context of abuse ie patriarchy

Aims and objectives: To understand the history and context of domestic abuse, To raise awareness of domestic abuse in teenage relationships.

Week 10

Learning Outcome: Celebration!!!

Aims and objectives: To celebrate with the Young People at the end of the programme!
